Joe Camilleri is the founder and CEO of Ethos Sustainability Solutions. With both a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master’s degree in Sustainable Engineering from Villanova University, Joe spent his early career consulting for a large industrial gas company. With extensive experience in whole impact assessment, Joe quickly became a go-to source for calculating the environmental and human impacts of industrial production. Soon after, Joe pivoted to enterprise sustainability planning with a keen interest in systems thinking, viewing complicated environmental, social, and economic issues as interconnected rather than separate. With his background in engineering and a passion for holistic sustainability, Joe combined the quantitative and qualitative into a novel sustainability tool utilizing cutting-edge metrics and stakeholder engagement to measure and manage the issues that are important not only to a company but to its people. Having used these tools to craft several comprehensive decade-long sustainability plans, Joe founded Ethos Sustainability Solutions to spread this state-of-the-art management tool to other enterprises. With collaborators, Joe helped to create the three-tiered Enterprise, Community, Family methodology Ethos uses as the basis for all its work.
Bill Lorenz is the founder and director of the Sustainable Engineering Graduate Program at Villanova University. He has more than 45 years of experience in the fields of environmental and sustainable engineering. He previously worked for the Sun Oil Company in Marcus Hook and Philadelphia, PA, first in the refineries and then at the corporate level. During his tenure with the company, he established new air, water, hazardous waste, and audit programs that coincided with the development and implementation of the nation’s first set of federal legislation in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He helped ERM become a global consultancy with more than 5,000 employees and continues to advise the organization’s evolving global sustainability practice with major multinational corporations. Through his industry experience and connections, Lorenz helps to ensure that Villanova’s curriculum reflects and incorporates leading-edge sustainable engineering concepts, practices, and tools. Lorenz has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Villanova and an MS in Environmental Engineering and an MBA from Drexel University. In 2020 Bill brought his decades of expertise to Ethos Sustainability Solutions as a managing partner.
